It rained buckets here all day the other day, which generally means that parts of the road I take to work— the unfortunately named Saw Mill River Parkway (this area has a number of roads named after bodies of water, which never bodes well when it storms)—would likely be flooded the next morning. An embarrassing way to learn a lesson

An embarrassing way to learn a lesson

When using restaurant certificates, before I sit down at the table from now on, I’m going to ask whether or not they will be accepted. A while back, I purchased a $50 restaurant certificate for $25 from one of our local radio stations. The certificate said that it “never expires.” [ More ]

CHILDREN'S ACTIVITY CENTERS About 24,000 Imaginarium 5-Sided Activity Centers sold at Toys R Us stores nationwide and online at www.toysrus.com from August 2009 through September 2010 for about $25. No reports of injuries have been reported, but Toys R Us have received eight reports of the small knobs detaching from the xylophone keys, which can create a choking hazard. The multi-sided center has two triangle-shaped ends with a wooden multi-colored xylophone on one and a mirror on the other. The three sides are square-shaped and include moveable block letters, rotating gears and sliding shapes. The name “Imaginarium” appears in a blue, oval-shaped logo underneath the mirror on one end. The second ‘i’ in the logo is dotted with a shooting star. The recalled product has model number 46284; Toys “R” Us item number 295909; and has the barcode number 000799985462841. The model number is printed on the back of the box, directly above the bar code. These numerical markings do not appear on the actual product. [ More ]

Getting the most out of a shopping trip

I love to shop and I love to walk. Little did I know how I would combine the two recently! My quest began with a wish list from my sister-in-law, who was visiting from The UK. She wanted a Disney Princess quilt and sham. Things like this in the UK are very expensive and online there weren’t that many great deals. [ More ]
